The Mask

When we are hurt by things of life itself, or by other people, and we supposedly don't let those things get us down, we're called 'strong'. But is that really being strong? Putting up a happy face for others to feel better while you don't feel well yourself. While you just want to be left alone to feel what really you're supposed to feel... or not feel. To find who you're supposed to be. But instead you stay where you were before, wearing only a mask that alludes your true face. Your true feelings.
As I see it, we have to take that mask off. See the world through your own eyes. Maybe then you will find who you need to be. Maybe you really are supposed to be happy. But that we need to figure out by ourselves. Wearing that stupid mask to society won't allow you to see beyond what they tell you you're supposed to see. But just speaking is too easy, isn't it? When we don't know how to take the mask off. When we're insecure what taking it off will mean. Where it will take us.
So what will it be? Will we be true to ourselves and wrong to society, or right for others and live in a skin that is not your own?
